Mercy & Truth Ministries
Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck, write them upon the table of thine heart; So shalt though find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man. Proverbs 3:3-4
Mercy & Truth Ministries is an outreach ministry of New Beginnings Baptist Church. Our mission is to reach our community through love by helping them meet their needs and sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ and His love for them. This ministry is designed to give families in need the opportunity to purchase food from a local, family-owned grocery store. Each recipient will receive Blessing Cards redeemable for food purchases at the Elba Butcher Shoppes in Altavista and Gretna. The Blessing Cards are worth $25.00 each and must be used in full at the time of purchase. The amount of Blessing Cards each recipient receives will be based upon need and the number of family members. One hundred percent of the money donated to this ministry goes directly toward the purchase of Blessing Cards, which will then be distributed to families in our community.
With the overwhelming amount of people struggling with addictions, people are becoming hesitant to hand out money to someone, in fear that they may use it in the wrong way. An advantage of this ministry is knowing that the money being donated cannot be used to purchase items like drugs, alcohol, tobacco products, or lottery tickets. We have an agreement with Elba Butcher Shoppes, that none of the Blessing Cards can be used to purchase any items other than groceries, cleaning products or toiletries. This allows us to help people with their needs, while gently guiding them in the right direction.
Going to the grocery store is something most of us take for granted, but it is considered a privilege for those struggling to make it from paycheck to paycheck. With this program, recipients are able to purchase items like fresh produce, milk, eggs, frozen foods and meats; items that aren't typically available at food banks.
We hope that you will pray about contributing to this ministry. We believe that meeting the needs of others is a wonderful way to reach our community for Jesus and we know that He will give the provisions to make it happen.
He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the Lord; and that which he hath given will He pay him again. Proverbs 19:17
Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the Lord will deliver him in time of trouble. The Lord will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be Blessed upon the earth and thou will not deliver him unto the will of his enemies. The Lord will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: thou will make all his bed in his sickness. Psalm 41:1-3
